Vacation / stacation - what's a girl to do?!

I want to go to the mountains, I want to see some stuff, I wanna have a good time! I think I'd like to go in this direction and visit The Mannings:

but I don't know yet. It would be about a 4 hour drive (which is not nearly as bad as the drive to Orlando was last year, but that's another story). There should be other things to do that would interest Tom and friend there, so just maybe....

RCK KAL is coming along ... have begun Instruction 4 ... there's a contest/raffle for those who are up-to-date at the next RCK meeting in August !

About halfway there, around the DC beltway, there are several nice little yarn stores (conveniently located near cheap lunch eats)...

Uniquities, a mile or two west on 123 into Vienna (map is correct, link to website on map page is NOT)
Aylin's Woolgatherer, just a few lights East on Rte. 50
A bit further out, Nature's Yarns is one of the newer stores in the area, but very nice.

there is nothing there to interest 2 teenagers. nothing close. the only thing they would like is if you drive farther to York and take them the the Harley plant.

There are several yarn shops in the Lynchburg/Bedford area and you could go for a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway where it should be cool. There's a big restaurant at Peaks of Otter, and I saw several nice restaurants mentioned in Bedford. The National D-Day Memorial is there, you can learn about the Beale treasure, and the visitor center is awesome. Smith Mountain Lake is in one direction and gorgeous mountains are in the other direction of the same county. There's also a pottery www.emersoncreekpottery.com that makes beautiful pottery and a number of crafts and specialty shops. For more info go to: http://www.visitbedford.com/ There's also Poplar Forest, Jefferson's other home, to visit in the same county. I think the Bedford area and Peaks of Otter Lodge would be a GREAT place for a knitting retreat.

If you want the mountains I don't remember the area in PA that you've mentioned as having many. I think they're farther north and west. Bedford (VA not PA) is closer and has mountains. Lots of them.

It's "CJ" - and I don't think I've ever actually said, so no worries about "not remembering"!

The Mannings looks good! Sorry can't be of any help, just expressing my own interest to go there :)

Related to your question... yep, I'm a "legal" person. I guess it was the 'Exhibit A' that gave it away!
